Nexus ICA faculty member, Daniel Johnson
Head of Worship Studies

Daniel is an experienced and gifted worship leader, writer, theologian and teacher. As Head of Worship Studies, Daniel oversees the Bible, Worship and Church modules, bringing years of study and teaching to this role. Daniel’s main responsibility is to help students explore the riches of scripture and apply these truths to their lives, studies and churches.

In 2011 he moved to Nottingham, and in 2015 he finished a degree in Popular Music with Music Technology from the University of Derby. Following on from this, he successfully completed a Masters of Research in Theology at the University of Nottingham, where he studied Isaac Watts’ interpretation of the psalms. He is now researching for his PhD at the University of Leicester, in which he continues to study the theology of Isaac Watts’ hymns. Daniel regularly shares his research at academic conferences, as well as sharing his insights with church worship teams. Alongside his studies, he is the guitarist and singer in several successful function bands and oversees the worship team at Redeemer Church Nottingham.

Daniel is passionate about Biblical theology, its influence on congregational worship and the way it has been understood throughout Church History. Daniel is married to Rosanna and has three sons, five guitars, four chickens and a banjo.
